Astound vs Wellspoken

Wellspoken works on what you say. Astound works on how you sound.

Wellspoken builds vocabulary and structure, then grades you on it. Astound builds the instrument underneath — breath, resonance and articulation — so the words land.

The right words need a voice that carries them.

Vocabulary decides what you say. Breath and resonance decide whether anyone hears it.

What Wellspoken can’t give you

Awareness, not analytics

You learn to hear and feel your own voice — which is what actually changes how you speak. Nobody built confidence by staring at a graph.

Breath first

A steady voice sits on steady breath. Diaphragmatic breathing and breath support are the foundation of every routine.

Expert-led

Every lesson is taught by Leila Bostic, a voice coach and speech therapist with 15 years of work with teachers, doctors, managers and actors.

We don’t care about filler-words. Or graphs.

Your favourite speakers say “um” too. What they have is breath, presence, and a voice that carries. That’s what we train.

Which one is right for you?

Wellspoken is good for vocabulary drills and spontaneous-answer practice, with AI analysis across several speaking dimensions.

Choose Wellspoken if…

  • You want to expand your vocabulary
  • You want practice structuring off-the-cuff answers

Choose Astound if…

  • Your words are fine — your voice undersells them
  • You get breathless, quiet or shaky when it matters
  • You want a human expert's method, not an AI grade
  • You want your recordings to stay private

Looking for this for years

I have been speaking fast all my life and dealing with clarity/articulation issues. … People have commented on how I am talking more clearly and definitely getting less “what?”. And I realized SO much more goes into clear communication besides “talk slower” e.g. pitch, lazy tongue, opening mouth more, etc.

Great app.

I’m only up to day two on the app, I like the warmup exercises on it so far. It’s made a voice sound better and able to pronounce words better.

Improvement after 3 sessions in 3 weeks!

I did the warm ups only a few times. My recordings show a major improvement! I went from squeaky Lauren Bacall to the real deal Bacall. Amazing.

Questions

What's the difference between Astound and Wellspoken?

Wellspoken focuses on what you say — vocabulary, structure and spontaneous answers — and scores it with AI. Astound focuses on how you sound: breath, resonance, articulation and tension release, taught by a speech therapist.

Does Astound help with vocabulary?

No. Astound is about your voice and breath. If vocabulary is your priority, Wellspoken is a reasonable pick; if people tell you to speak up, slow down or sound more confident, start with Astound.
