Astound vs Toastmasters

Toastmasters is a club that meets once a week. Astound is a voice coach, every day.

Toastmasters gives you a stage and peer feedback. Astound gives you the voice to use on it — breath, resonance and articulation from a speech therapist, in a few minutes a day.

Confidence isn't built once a week.

Stage time helps. A few minutes of daily practice is what gets your voice ready for it.

What Toastmasters can’t give you

Awareness, not analytics

You learn to hear and feel your own voice — which is what actually changes how you speak. Nobody built confidence by staring at a graph.

Breath first

A steady voice sits on steady breath. Diaphragmatic breathing and breath support are the foundation of every routine.

Expert-led

Every lesson is taught by Leila Bostic, a voice coach and speech therapist with 15 years of work with teachers, doctors, managers and actors.

We don’t care about filler-words. Or graphs.

Your favourite speakers say “um” too. What they have is breath, presence, and a voice that carries. That’s what we train.

Which one is right for you?

Toastmasters is great for stage time in front of a real, supportive audience, and for meeting people who are working on the same thing.

Choose Toastmasters if…

  • You want regular stage time in front of real people
  • You want a community and a structured speaking path

Choose Astound if…

  • You want expert technique, not just peer opinion
  • You can't commit to a weekly meeting
  • You want to work on your voice privately before you go public
  • You want a warmup before your Toastmasters speech, too

Questions

Is Astound a Toastmasters alternative?

It's a different thing. Toastmasters is a club where you give speeches and get peer feedback. Astound is daily voice training from a speech therapist. Plenty of people use Astound to warm up before their Toastmasters speeches.

Does Astound count my “ums” like a Toastmasters Ah-Counter?

No. Filler words make us human — your favourite speakers use them too. Astound works on breath and voice, which is what makes you sound confident.
